Check your home page title |
![]() |
Before we go ahead and start editing the content on the website there is one last thing we should look at. We need to set up your home page title and short name (navigation words).
Your page title is very important because of search engines and how they look through your pages to determine what information is on there.
Your home page title will be the main link in search engines if you are found in any results so it needs to be a sentence which makes sense but also should contain key words or phrases which people might type into the search engines to find your web page.
Please note that these steps will work for the title of any page.
How do I change my home page title?
To change your home page title, do the following:
- Log in to Site Right
- From the main menu click 'Edit site contents'.
- Click the Yellow spanner/wrench button on the same line as your home page.
- Click 'Naming and appearance'.
- Next to 'Title' enter a sentence which describes your business, for example 'Computer Spares and Repairs'.
- Next we have a look at the short name which is the button on the navigation linking to the home page.
- Whilst on the same page click 'Navigation, categories and approval'.
- Next to 'Short Name' enter a word which you want to use to link to your home page. 'Home' is the most common but you could use something else if you wish. This will change the link name in the navigation and can be changed at any time.
- If you are happy with the 'Short Name' then don't change anything and click 'Store Changes' to save the page title. If you do not wish to change anything at all click the 'Main Menu' button.
- Note: For other pages it is useful to use key words or phrases in the short name to link to those related services.
