SPONSER EEN KIND
De O4M zal werken met verschillende liefdadigheids organisaties die zeer effectief en succesvol zijn in termen van hulp aan arme kinderen in Afrika, Azïe en zuid Amerika.
Armoede is gewoon in dat gedeelte van de wereld. Veel kinderen in Afrika bijvoorbeeld zijn wees geworden door AIDS. Door een donatie te geven of door een kansarm kind te sponseren, geeft u een arm kind een betere zorg en onderwijs.
Op onze school hebben we iets unieks bedacht, want als u uw kind laat registreren op de O4M, zal een klein gedeelte van het betaalde schoolgeld gebruikt worden om een arm kind ergens in de wereld te sponseren, waardoor hij of zij voedsel, kleding en medicijnen zal ontvangen. Maar met name zal deze geldelijke steun er ook voor zorgen dat een kind naar school kan gaan en boeken kan kopen.
Wij geloven dat de enige zekere genezing van armoede in onderwijs ligt.
Wij geloven heilig in deze stelregel. Met onderwijs heeft een kind betere vooruitzichten. In 1948 werd het recht op onderwijs al vastgelegd in de Universele Verklaring voor de mensenrechten. Dat recht moet nog steeds bevochten worden en is dan ook opgenomen in de Millenniumdoelen. Een van die doelen is dat alle kinderen, jongens én meisjes in 2015 de mogelijkheid hebben om volledig basisonderwijs te doorlopen.
HET EFFECT VAN ONDERWIJS AAN KINDEREN
Educatie is de basis voor de ontwikkeling van een kind. Ontwikkeling leidt tot het leren van een beroep en dit is de basis voor een economisch zelfstandig bestaan. Deze filosofie is de reden geweest om een klein gedeelte van het maandelijke schoolgeld te gebruiken om een kind te sponseren in de derde wereld.
Als je niet leert lezen, schrijven of rekenen is het moeilijker om werk te vinden. Wie kan lezen heeft informatie over werk, voeding en gezondheid. Onderzoek heeft uitgewezen dat mensen die onderwijs hebben gevolgd minder kwetsbaar zijn voor honger en armoede en ook gezonder leven. Het is makkelijker een betaalde baan te krijgen en zo uit de vicieuze cirkel ongeletterdheid – werkloosheid - armoede te komen. Voor iedere Nederlander een begrijpelijke redenering.
Beheersing van aspecten als taal, schrijven, rekenen enz. geven inwoners niet alleen meer kans op werk. Ze leiden ook tot een betere infrastructuur (wonen, vervoer, veilige watervoorziening), democratisering van de maatschappij, vrouwenrechten, betere gezondheidszorg, zorg voor het cultureel erfgoed enz.
Deze langetermijneffecten starten met toegang tot onderwijs.
Deze geldelijke steun geeft u en uw kind de mogelijkheid om
•te corresponderen met het sponserkind
•verschillende nieuwsbrieven te ontvangen
•op de hoogte te blijven over de voorderingen van uw sponserkind via de site van de betreffende liefdadigheids instelling
Dmv DVD's van de liefdadigheidsinstellingen, foto's en correspondentie zal uw eigen kind zich bewust worden van het leven van verschillende sponser kinderen en het zal duidelijk worden dat veel zaken niet vanzelfsprekend zijn voor iedereen.
Meer specifieke informatie over de verschillende geregistreerde liefdadigheidsinstellingen waar de O4M mee zal werken volgt nog.
In de hal van de kantine zal een muur gewijdt worden aan dit doorlopende project, waar de fotos van de sponserkindjes te bewonderen zijn met de naam van de O4M leerling die verbonden is met één bepaald sponserkind.

SPONSOR A CHILD
The O4M will be working with various charity organizations who are very effective in terms of providing help to a poor child in Africa, Asia and South America.
Poverty is common in those parts of the world. Many children in Africa eg become orphans due to AIDS. By a charity donation or becoming a sponsor for a poor boy or girl, you will be able to give a poor child care and education.
At our school we have something unique, because when your child enrolles in the O4M, a small part of the monthly schoolfees will be used to sponsor a poor child somewhere in the world, and he or she will get food, clothes and medicines. This way you will also help sponsor school fees and books.
We believe that the only sure cure for poverty is education.
We believe in this principal. An educated child has better prospects. As early as in 1948 the right of education was laid down in the Universal Human Rights Declaration. This right has still to be fought and has for that reason been embodied in the Millennium-goals, one of which proclaims that every child, boy or girl, should by 2015 have the opportunity to pass through a complete course of primary education.
The effect of education on children.
Education forms the basis of a child's development and leads to acquiring an occupation which is the basis of an economically independent existence. It is this philosophy that gave birth to the idea to combine the O4M schoolfees paid by parents, to help sponsor a poor child somewhere in the world at the same time.
Not being able to read, write or calculate makes it harder to find employment. One who can read has access to information about work, food and health. Research has shown that educated people are less prone to famine and poverty and live healthier. It is easier to get a paid job and thus break the vicious cycle of illiteracy, unemployment or poverty. Every Dutchman understands this.
The mastering of skills such as language, writing, arithmetic and so forth, not only makes people stand a better chance of work, but also lead to a better infra structure ( housing, transport, safe water supplies), democratization of society, women's rights, improved healthcare, concern for cultural heritage etcetera. These long-range effects commence with access to education.
This sponsorship gives you and your child the opportunity to:
•correspond via e-mail to your sponsor child and get a quick reply
•receive quarterly newsletters
•obtain updated information of your sponsor child through the home page of the choosen charity.
Through dvd's send from the charity, pictures and correspondence with the sponsorchild, your own child will learn that things he or she takes for granted, doesn't always apply to others.
More information from the registered charities will be provided at a later date.
In the schoolkantine a wall will be dedicated with all the pictures of the sponsored children, and the name of the O4M pupil linked to a specific sponsored child.
